1st Day: Coca - Pañayacu - Pañacocha
From Coca, we will take a motorized canoe and begin our trip along the Napo River until we reach the Pañayacu River . It will take approximately five hours, with lunch along the way. Our final destination will be Pañacocha Lodge, where we will take a short walk before dinner and bed. First day evaluation and dialogue about next day program.
2nd Day: Pañacocha
After breakfast we will go for a walk through the rainforest, looking at different kinds of medicinal plants, trees and insects. Later that afternoon we will navigate up the Pañayacu River for about two hours, experiencing some of the incredible flora and fauna of the area. This will be a perfect time to bird watch, get the chance to see monkeys and pink fresh water dolphins, piranha fishing and more. Dinner. Searching for alligators.
3rd Day: Pañacocha - surrounding lagoons
In the morning we will go by dugout paddle canoe through the lagoons and mangroves where we will see several types of native bird such as "caciques ", "oropéndolas" , greater anis, jays, kingfishers, "hoatzins", and more. In the afternoon will have a chance to visit a native family where you can learn about history, culture and help in the activities of the indigenous people, like recollecting seeds, harvesting bananas / yuca and making the traditional drink called chicha. Night walk to see insects like ants, spiders, frogs and night monkeys.
4th Day: Pañacocha- Nuevo Rocafuerte-Yasuní National Park
After breakfast by motorized canoe we continue down of Pañayacu and Napo rivers until Nuevo Rocafuerte and Yasuní river. (Perú border). There you get beautiful and spectacular pictures of landscapes, also there will have excellent possibilities to see the pink river dolphins. The shaman medicine men show us about religious ceremonies. Dinner and camp site.
5-6th Days: Yasuní National Park - Jatuncocha lagoon
Early birwatching around the mysterious black water Jatuncocha lagoon. After breakfast we will walk for about three hours through the rainforest Hike in primary forest 2-4 hours with an indigenous guide and learn about medicinal, anesthetic, and poisonous plants, also we admire the gigantic ceiba , "King of the Jungle trees ", as well as techniques for survival in the jungle. Fishing for piranhas in the afternoon and searching for alligators on Jatuncocha lagoon at night. Dinner and camp site.
7-8-9 th Day: Yasuní Park ( Ecuador ) - Pantoja(Perú) - Port Mazán (Perú)
After breakfast will continue navigating down on the Yasuní and Napo rivers. We across the border line and arrive to the first Peruvian village called Pantoja. During this days will have the opportunity the follow the route of Orellana visiting small indigenous villages, fishing, swimming and admiring the jungle beauty. Camp sites on the beach.
10th Day: Port Mazán - Amazonas river- Iquitos
After breakfast we take a moto taxi and will travel on the road from Port Mazán on the Napo river during 25 minutes to "El desembarcadero" located on the shore line of the spectacular Amazonas river, from there will navigate in "speedboat" up Amazonas river during 45 minutes to the most important city in the Peruvian amazon called Iquitos. End of the trip.
